Elizabeth Moore Aubin appointed new US Ambassador to Cameroon

The Senate of the United States of America has confirmed Elizabeth Moore Aubin in a cross party scrutiny, as the new US Ambassador to Cameroon.

She was appointed by President Joe Biden to replace Christopher John Lamora, who has headed the US diplomatic mission to Cameroon since 2022.

The US State Department is yet to announce the date departure to take up duties in Cameroon.

Prior to her appointment, she was serving as the US Ambassador to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.

She has also served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (NEA).

Her diplomatic career began in Tel Aviv, Israel, as a Management Counselor. She also served as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Algiers, Algeria, from 2011 to 2014, before becoming the Executive Director of the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, marking the start of a prolific career within the State Department.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Barnard College and completed graduate studies in international relations at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University.

She arrives in Cameroon at a time when the country is preparing for legislative, municipal and presidential elections.

The elections expectedbe held hold in 2025 are already the center of attraction amongst foreign powers with vested interest in Cameroon.
