ENEO blames cash flow crisis for load shedding

Cameroon’s electricity supply company has recently come under criticism for constant blackouts in towns across the country.

ENEO in a public notice yesterday explained the reason for the constant shortage in energy supply in the country recently. The situation, it said, was due to severe cash flow crisis, citing the North West and South West regions in particular.

“The most obvious consequence can be seen in the difficulties in supplying fuel to thermal plants, leading to load shedding on the south interconnected grid,” it stated.

The south interconnected grid supplies electricity to the Littoral, West, North West, South West, Center and South regions. The situation, ENEO added, is likely to worsen in the days ahead and even last longer than initially planned.

In the meantime, “a consultation framework between stakeholders in the sector and the authorities is currently working to find solutions,” ENEO notes.
