EPL: Manchester United defeated Wolves 2-0 at Old Trafford to extend their lead to four points over Liverpool in the top four

Manchester United moved four points clear of fifth-placed Liverpool in the English Premier League with three games remaining after a 2-0 home win against Wolves.

Erik ten Hag’s side is closing in on a Champions League spot, trailing only third-placed Newcastle, who drew 2-2 at Leeds earlier on Saturday, on goal difference.

United’s performance will not be remembered for long, but the hosts performed in a must-win game, creating enough chances to keep Wolves second best throughout the game and preventing their opponents from recording a single shot on target.

Anthony Martial and Alejandro Garnacho score the game-winning goals as Manchester United defeat Wolves 2-0 at home.

United took the lead in the 32nd minute when Antony crossed the ball to Martial, who hammered into an empty net.

After the half, United continued to produce the majority of the chances, with Daniel Bentley, making his Premier League debut, keeping Wolves in the game with brilliant stops on Jadon Sancho and Antony.

However, United would score their second goal in the fourth minute of extra time.

Garnacho completed a sweeping counter-attacking play to secure all three points for the home side, who extend their unbeaten home run to 27 games and tie Newcastle United for third position on points.
