Education officials in Cameroon’s restive North West say some 3,000 students reported to school today across the region. At GBHS Bamendakwe alone, visited by North West Governor Adolphe Lele L’Afrique, some 1,000 students were present out of the 2,500 expected. However, there has been timid resumption of schools in the basic and secondary levels — across the region’s 7 divisions.


Most government run basic and secondary schools in the North West region have failed to open their doors for the current school year for the 5th year. Most schools that opened their doors today are lay private and denominational schools.


Some school children who failed to travel to Bamenda last weekend ahead of school resumption say they are frustrated in Boyo Division. They had planned to travel by Saturday but were unlucky after military stormed an amba check point in Kedjom Keku late Saturday killing two separatist fighters and one civilian. The road that opens only on Saturday and Sunday was blocked again for the weekend after the military raid.


A pregnant woman has lost her life at the St. Paul Hospital, Nylon in Douala after alleged negligence by the hospital authorities. The lady reportedly arrived the hospital on Sunday, September 5, with a complications, but there was no doctor was available to attend to her.


Minister Paul Atanga Nji of Territorial Administration is said to have led a campaign which vaccinated over 350 personnel of his Ministry against COVID-19. The vaccination campaign was reportedly done voluntarily by all staff members of the Ministry.


A sum of at least 400 Billion is believed to still be in the hands of indicted embezzlers in Cameroon. Cameroonians have urged competent authorities to speed up the recovery process of the funds as they believe it will be useful to Cameroon’s falling economy.



At least 4 persons have been apprehended in Bertoua for robbing a woman of 21 Million FCFA in Edea. The stolen money belonged to a company and was meant to pay workers’ salaries.
