Ex-Indomitable Lion Rebukes Samuel Eto’o On Dressing Room Outburst

By M.K

FECAFOOT President Samuel Eto’o Fils’ outburst in the dressing room following the Indomitable Lions’ victory over Burundi keeps garnering reactions from football enthusiasts across the country.

One of Eto’o’s former teammates in his playing days with the Lions, Idrissou has publicly lambasted the FECAFOOT president’s outburst, calling it disrespectful not only to the players but to the coaching staff as well.

This was in an interview with popular web Journalist Paul Chouta, where he addressed the incident that has left tongues wagging for days now.

According to Idrissou, “… Only the coach has the right to address the players the way he did in the dressing room at that point.”

To the ex-player, he believed Eto’o’s outburst was hypocritical. He said “…we all know Eto’o, and if it were him who was spoken to in that time during the playing days, he would have been the first person to rebel against the FECAFOOT President.”

Idrissou equally pointed out that he found it weird that Eto’o could be that disrespectful in front of his former teammates.

“When you watch the video and you see Song standing there, Patrick Mboma, Bill Tchato, and then Eto’o speaking as such, it is not right.”

Amongst several other issues raised, Idrissou also undermined the FECAFOOT President’s legacy in the national team.

He told Paul Chouta “… when we talk about the national team, it is Roger Milla that comes to mind, and not Eto’o… The national team had never been about a single individual… Eto’o was a good player but he never played alone, so when he says he didn’t have a good group around him that could win the world cup, that is disrespectful.”

This particular incident has continued to divide opinion amongst football supporters in Cameroon.

Social media observations reveal however that some Cameroonians think the FECAFOOT President, as the boss had every right to express his frustration to the team.

Many have argued that as much as the former lion has so long encouraged and congratulated them during their better performances, then it should not be different if he chose to rebuke them if they don’t impress him.
