A man has been served mob justice in Bangante, West region of Cameroon over alleged theft. “On Friday he butchered a bike rider and went away with his bike,” a source explains.
He further revealed that the victim of the suspected thief “is still suffering in the hospital after losing an arm and an eye”.
The killer was apprehended on Saturday evening and was beaten by an angry crowd that took justice into its own hands, later setting him ablaze. “They took him from a village called Balingou and butchered him and burnt him to death in Bangante town,” says our source.
Mob justice is not a new phenomenon in Cameroon. Mostly witnessed in large towns, it leaves no room for the suspect to defend themselves or explain their actions.
