Fai Collins opens new chapter with Serbian club FC Radnicki Nis

Cameroonian defender, Fai Collins, has found a new footballing home, signing with Serbian Super League side FC Radnicki Nis after a five-month hiatus from club football.

The 31-year-old right-back’s move to Nis aligns with his recent inclusion in Rigobert Song’s provisional 49-man squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

Fai Collins, who left Saudi club Al Taï in July after a two-season tenure, has a rich footballing history with Belgian clubs Standard Liege and Charleroi.

His career includes 56 appearances for the Indomitable Lions, featuring prominently in the 2022 FIFA World Cup and other AFCONS.

The experienced defender expressed his excitement about joining FC Radnicki Nis in a social media post, stating, “In your special ways you made it possible thank you Lord Jesus. Happy to be part of this family @fkradnickinis. Can’t wait to kick start with the team.”

FC Radnicki Nis, currently occupying the 15th position in the 18-team Serbian Super League, welcomed Collins as their “first reinforcement” in the winter transfer window.

The club highlighted Fai’s international experience, describing him as a right-back who adds depth and skill to their defensive lineup.

“Fai plays as a right back and comes to the club with impressive international experience,” the club wrote.

The announcement from the club management and sports director, Bratislav Ristic, indicated that Collins’ arrival is the initial step in fortifying the team for the remainder of the Serbian championship.

The club recently concluded a winter training camp in Slovenia and is gearing up for the league’s resumption on February 3.

Fai’s versatility, being capable of playing both right-back and right-wing, provides coach Miroslav Djukić with tactical flexibility.

The seasoned defender’s experience and leadership are anticipated to contribute significantly to Radnicki’s performance as they strive to improve their league standing.

During Fai Collins’ period without a club, there were speculations linking him to Cameroonian local football club Victoria United.

However, the defender has now opted for a fresh challenge with the Serbian outfit, signaling a new chapter in his illustrious career.

As FC Radnicki Nis prepares for the second half of the season, Collins’ immediate focus will shift to the AFCON, commencing on January 13th, 2024.

His role in the tournament and subsequent return to Radnicki will be closely monitored, adding an intriguing storyline to the football narrative in the coming months.
