The 2022 edition of Fundong Mayor Football jamboree aimed at bringing peace in Fundong municipality has ended in style with Faith FC emerging champions.
Faith FC lifted the trophy after beating Royal FC 2 goals to 1 in a final that took place Sunday August 21, 2022 at the Fundong multipurpose sports complex in Boyo division of the North West region.
According to the organizers, eight teams effectively took part in the male football competition.
Other categories of the competition included ‘FUNJAN’for the elderly and the elites, DRAUGHT for the elders, handball boys and girls, football boys and girls, as well as a tug of war for the persons living with disability.
In the women’s football category FAITH FC female team beat young strikers of Alim to become women’s champion of the competition. The handball category also saw Faith FC standing tall out of the four participating teams.
The finals watched by Denis Awoh Ndang, Mayor of Fundong administration reportedly saw the presence of over 1500 people.
MMI gathered that, the competition was intended to bring calm amongst the population, encourage people who had left the village to return home.
