A young man said to be in his 20s, has been apprehended by the forces of law and order in Nomayos, Mefou and Akono division of the East Region, for impersonating a military official.
The young man who according to Nzui Manto engaged in the act in a bid “to meet the demands of his stomach” was arrested in military uniform.
It is reported that the young man went about seizing national identity cards, demanding huge sums for their recovery. He was apprehended in possession of some ID cards.
Intercepted by the police, the young man claimed he was suffering from amnesia, manifested by a loss of memory caused by trauma.
Questioned on how the later obtained the military wear, the fake officer answered “It’s like I picked it up from the trash, but I’m not sure.”
When asked of his name, the young man told the police official “I don’t remember, chef.”
This comes shortly after a 47-year-old man was arrested in Makak for a similar crime.
Just as his colleague, Yves Ndongo, the young man has been put behind bars by the forces of law and order.
