Far North: 240 Minawawo Camp Refugees Receive First Aid Training

Two hundred and forty (240) Refugees from the Minawawo Camp in the Far North region of Cameroon have been trained on how to administer first aid during emergencies such as fire outbreaks.

For a few months, repeated fires have ravaged many properties in the Fat North region. Out of the 6 divisions that the Far North region has, only 2 divisions have fire brigade units. They include Maroua in Diamaré and Kousseri in Logone and Chari.

The Refugees who consisted of women, young men, and children supervised by the experts of the national fire brigade corps of the 40th Group from Maroua were drilled in a training that ran from May 4 to May 6, 2023.

“For 72 hours, the refugees received classes on the teachings provided on how to deal with a victim in distress; The instructions to be followed to avoid the outbreak of fire; The course of action to be taken in the face of a fire outbreak” stated an MMI correspondent in the North of Cameroon.

At the end of the training, the various participants expressed their satisfaction with the quality of the lessons received.

Henceforth, the 240 trained refugees are expected to become ambassadors alongside the over 20,000 other refugees.

The officials of the national fire brigade while ending the training asked the inhabitants of Minawawo to be models on the lessons received.
