At least shops are reported to have been razed at the Mokolo Central Market in the Far North region.
The fire, according to sources, broke out at about 9:30 pm on Monday April 11.
“It was about 9:30 while I was about to lock my shop and go home. Two guys who were sitted around, came to me saying your neighbor’s place is on fire” a neighbor to one of the victims said.
EFforts by the population to put out the flames were fruitless as a result of lack of water.
The population of Mokolo however decried the absence of firefighters in their locality as they say it will go a long way in helping them, especially in such situations.
“It is very urgent for us to have the fire fighters here in mokolo. Their services are not just for fire outbreaks. We face face accidents, we undergo attacks regularly and with the presence of the fire fighters we can have help at any time” a Mokolo inhabitant said.
The cause of the fire outbreak is still however unknown.
