Far North: Gadala residents kidnap, burn man alive over suspicious theft

A man by name Gondji Gazaza, hailing from Kortchi, a village in Mogode has been kidnapped and burned alive by villagers of Gadala, a village in the Mokolo Subdivision, Far North Region of Cameroon.

The 60-year-old man was reportedly removed from his home on Friday June 24 and taken to a bush in Gadala where he was burnt alive.

Reports revealed that the villagers as well attacked his 35-year old son while on his way to the market.

The son who happened to be a trader was reportedly stopped, stabbed severely and beaten with huge sticks. He is currently receiving medical assistance at the hospital.

Meanwhile no tangible evidence revealed that the 60-year-old father had carried out theft in their village the previous day.

In a video, vigilante committee members who are expected to prevent such acts could be spotted amongst the villagers.

Since then, the population continue to mourn the departure of their father, brother and child.

They have promised to consult competent authorities and urge them to carry out a careful investigation in a bid to severely punish all those involved on the death of Gondji Gazaza.
