Far North: Inauguration of Tokombéré council building raise questions over Cavaye’s failed legacy

There has been many questions about the legacy of the 40 years of the Biya government in general and the Speaker of the National Assembly, in particular, following the inauguration of the Tokombéré council building in the Far North region.

The building was inaugurated Tuesday, July 19, 2022.

The Mayor of the area, Boukar Tikiré, did everything possible to give sparkle and a special touch to the inauguration ceremony of the building.

The event attracted many personalities from all over Cameroon.

In the front row, was the Minister of Decentralization and Local Development, Georges Elanga Obam and the President of the National Assembly, the Honorable Cavaye Yeguie Djibril who did not fail to sketch dance steps during cultural performances of the populations of the Tokombéré community in joy.

“We are proud to see this building inaugurated in our town with the presence of our dad, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril who makes the effort to assist us. So now it is time for the development of our locality because for a long time Tokombéré remained without change” indicated an elite of the locality.

Birthplace of the President of the National Assembly who has become a shadow of himself due to age, Tokombéré is one among many communities in Cameroon that has been plunged into underdevelopment with the majority of young people unemployed.

“The city should at least be the showcase for the Mayo Sava Division with the 3rd personality of Cameroon who is from us. But alas, for nearly 40 years, nothing has changed. To see today an audience of personalities come to inaugurate a hotel in this town that’s not the development of a locality, sometimes, I have the impression that people are making fun of us, the poor people left to our own devices” said a well-to-do inhabitant of the area.

Minister Georges Elanga Obam inaugurated the architectural jewel whose construction and furnishing cost over 600 million Francs CFA.
