Far North: MP launches campaign for youth commitment to peace

Hon. Hamadou Ahmadou, Member of Parliament, MP, and native of Mayo-Legga in Mokolo, Far North Region has called on youths of his municipality and the nation at large to play their part in restoring peace.

The young MP who doubles as a student at the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences has pledged to fight for the improvement of the living conditions of vulnerable youths in the northern regions of Cameroon.

Hamadou Ahmadou, who too is junior MP for the United Nations in Cameroon says he will put his skills into practice to ensure youths get the best from him.

“Our role is also to fight against the factors constituting potential sources of undermining of peace and national harmony, namely: tribalism, hatred, intolerance, disinformation, consumption of drugs, alcohol , violence and vandalism,” he stated.

As part of his duties, he further pledged to defend the interests of youths.

“… I must allow collaboration between young people with local elected officials and administrative and religious authorities; unite the young people of my constituency so that we are one and indivisible ,” he said.

The commitment of Hamadou Ahmadou comes at a time Cameroon MPs are meeting at the March session of parliament.

The session comes at a time when youths are being placed at the center of the increasing insecurity in not just the Far North where there is the fight against the Boko Haram sect, but also in the North West and South West regions where the state is combatting separatist fighters.
