Fatal Accident at Mile 5 Akum, Multiple Fatalities Reported

A road accident at Mile 5 Akum in the Mezam Division has resulted in the confirmed deaths of at least three individuals, according to initial reports from the scene.

Eyewitnesses say the incident involved a trailer that reportedly lost control and collided with a minibus travelling in the opposite direction. The collision occurred earlier today, and emergency response efforts by other road users and the local population are ongoing.

“I was standing by the roadside when I saw the trailer veer off its lane and hit the bus,” said an eyewitness who reached out to MMI via WhatsApp. “It all happened very fast.”

Local residents were the first to respond, providing initial emergency assistance while awaiting the arrival of official services.

“As soon as we heard the noise, we ran to the road. Some people were trying to pull the victims out,” said a local resident assisting at the scene.

Authorities have not yet released an official statement, and the exact number of injuries remains unclear. The cause of the trailer’s reported loss of control is also yet to be determined.

The situation is still developing, and further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
