Fatal Fight Claims One Life in Bamenda

By Njoh Linda

A man has died following a violent altercation on Banja Street, near the Second Bridge in Nkwen, Bamenda III, in the early hours of Monday, January 19, 2026.

The incident occurred at around 5:30 am, shortly after a group of young people returned from a nearby nightclub, according to eyewitness accounts.

Residents say a heated argument broke out among the group and quickly escalated into a physical fight.

During the confrontation, one of the youths was reportedly pushed off the bridge into the water below, resulting in his death.

The identity of the victim has not yet been made public, and the exact cause of the dispute remains unclear.

Residents of the area have expressed concern over recurring late-night disturbances. Some are calling on local authorities to reinforce security around the bridge, particularly during night and early morning hours, to prevent similar incidents.
