According to a narration from his wife, Victor collapsed in the toilet at home and was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

The doctors revealed that he died of Cholera.

“My husband was strong and healthy. He came back from work last night, took his bath, ate, and we went to bed. The next morning, around 10 a.m., he complained to me about a slight stomach ache. He went to the toilet, and after staying in for a long time, I sent my son to go check on him. He went and saw his father on the floor with a wound on his head,” Victor’s wife narrated.

She added, “We rushed him to the hospital, and after a few minutes, he was pronounced dead, and the nurses told us he died of cholera.”

Expressing shock, she said her husband had demonstrated no symptoms of cholera.

He has left behind a wife and two children.

Panic in the neighbourhood

The death of Victor has created panic in the Nkomondo neighbourhood.

His widow and children have been asked to relocate to avoid the spread of the deadly disease.

Nkomondo, breeding ground for Cholera

The latest development has raised concerns about the hygiene and sanitation of the neighbourhood.

The area where MMI gathered is noted for its poor hygiene and sanitation.

“Nkomondo is first of all too dirty; garbage is thrown here and there. Unclean toilets, dirt surroundings, amongst others “ an inhabitant told MMI.

The recent Cholera case hit Douala after other cases were recorded in the South West region and Yaounde in the Centre region.

The local population has called on the government to salvage the situation.
