FECAFOOT reacts to racketeering accusations, promises to take legal action against author

The Cameroon Football Federation, (FECAFOOT) denied engaging in any practice that involves them receiving payment from players before being called to the national team.

In a recent release signed by the Secretary General of the Fecafoot, Blaise Djounang, the Federation has revealed that the information stemmed from an “independent French investigative journalist” by name Romain Molina.

The statement said legal action would be taken against the reporter.

The journalist has published reports claiming that: “… some Cameroon players have paid to take part in the Qatar world cup under the national football team.”

They equally highlighted that the French journalist, some days earlier, contacted the President of the Fecafoot, Samuel Eto’o, threatening to leak some information if the amount of 25,000 Euros (16,412,990 CFA) was not deposited into a particular account.

The Camerooon Football Federation said: “… it is Considering filing a complaint with the French justice system regarding this attempted extortion.”

FECAFOOT’s release reiterated their support and commitment to watch over the image of the Indomitable Lions.
