Fight against crime: Douala mayors to unite against “Les Microbes”

The increased levels of insecurity in Douala has forced the mayor’s of the city to look for a common solution against it. In recent weeks, the people of Douala have been faced with constant attacks from armed group popularly called “Les Microbes”.

They have been seen attacking civilians with machetes, knives and clubs while looting property from businesses and seizing valuable belongings.

This decision by the mayors of the 6 districts of the Municipality of Douala was arrived at the end of a meeting held by the administrators on October 21, 2020.

At the end of the meeting, the mayors revealed to the media that it could only be through a combined effort that Les Microbes in Douala would be defeated.

The local authorities also want to work in collaboration with the forces of law for their target to be achieved within the shortest time possible. The mayors also intend to strengthen ID card checks in the city and require that commercial bike riders, who are often believed to be accomplices to the group, to present all valid documents before operating around town.
