Fire Engulfs Shops at Commercial Avenue Bamenda

A major fire broke out on Commercial Avenue in Bamenda this afternoon, destroying several shops and offices. Firefighters are currently battling the blaze, and at least six businesses and homes are confirmed to be affected.

The fire erupted shortly after [insert time here], quickly engulfing several structures along the busy commercial district. Witnesses reported thick smoke billowing into the sky, drawing a large crowd of onlookers.

“It happened so fast,” said one witness, a shopkeeper who narrowly escaped the flames. “I saw smoke coming from next door, and within minutes, the fire spread to my shop.”

Firefighters arrived promptly at the scene and are working tirelessly to contain the blaze. However, the close proximity of buildings combined with the flammable materials in the shops is posing a significant challenge.

“The extent of the damage is still unclear,” said one of the authorities at the scene. “Our primary focus right now is ensuring everyone’s safety and extinguishing the fire. We will be able to assess the damage and provide more information once the situation is under control.”

Rescue teams are also on the scene, looking for any potential victims and helping those who are in need. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported so far.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and it is hoped that the authorities will be investigating.

This is a developing story, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
