Fired UB lecturer says his dismissal is an act of scores settling.

Former lecturer of the University of Buea (UB), Dr. Sango Martin Ndeh has described his dismissal from the institution as a “political witch hunting” designed and executed by people who want to see him out of the University.

In a telephone interview with Mimi Mefo Info Tuesday June 23, 2020, the former lecturer in the faculty of Arts at the University of Buea says reasons of his dismissal stated in a presidential decree Monday June 22nd are false and intended to give him a “bad name”.

“I did not try to disrupt re-sit examination during the 2018/2019 school year. What happened is that i live at Mile 16 Bolifamba, a locality at the outskirts of Buea. This is one of the base of Ambazonia fighters with shooting and other forms of insecurity that was frequent there at the time. I could not leave my house to school because of high level of insecurity”, Dr Sango explained.

The University don however stated that he notified his hierarchy about the ugly security situation in his neighbourhood that could not permit him to move.

An explanation that might have been rated invalid with a report of insubordination and attempt to disrupt exams forwarded to Yaounde.

According to a Presidential decree signed by President Paul Biya June 22nd, Dr Sango Martin Ndeh has been dismissed.

Despite this, he still reserves the right to get his pension according to the presidential decree.
This is the second lecturer to be dismissed from the University of Buea in less than two months.
In April this year, Barrister Agbor Felix Balla was dismissed as lecturer from the University for setting an exam question for law students at the University of Buea.

Critics say there is power struggle in the institution with lecturers in the ruling party alongside the Vice Chancellor Prof Horace Manga working to discredit those in the civil society or opposition parties.
