Five civilians killed in new Ngohketunjia military raid

The locality of Bafanji in Balikumba a Sub Division in the North West region’s Ngohketunjia is yet to experience calm after soldiers stormed several localities in search of separatist fighters.

Reports say the mission went wrong when civilians became the target of the armed incursion.

“More than five civilians are already killed and many wounded” a local informed MMI yesterday evening.

Another source claims the figures could be as high as seven, noting that they succumbed to bullet wounds incurred during random shooting.

“Amba fighters announced that farmers should come for a meeting so they went there and the military camr and opened fire” he narrates.

Civilians have often been the victims of armed attacks by both the army and separatists, and thousands have died since 2017 when the Anglophone crisis turned violent .
