Flight mode campaign: MINPOSTEL summons urgent meeting with Telecommunications Regulation Board, Orange, and MTN

The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications (MINPOSTEL), Minette Libom Li Linkeng, has summoned an urgent meeting with the Telecommunications Regulation Board (ART), Orange, and MTN telecommunication companies.

The meeting according to a letter addressed to these institutions will take place on Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 3 p.m. in the Minpostel conference room.

The meeting will be chaired by Minister Libom Li Linkeng and will have “consumer protection” as its focus.

This comes amidst a flight mode campaign initiated by Cameroonian influencers and celebrities like Emy Dany Basong and Mitoumba Ebenezer Kepombia.

According to them, they are decrying the poor quality of service provided by major telecom companies in Cameroon.

Consequently, they resorted to boycotting the services of Orange and MTN Cameroon by turning all their devices to airplane mode between midday and 2:00 PM Cameroon time.

Cameroonians have their fingers crossed, hoping that the meeting will yield positive results.
