Flood waters hit Logone & Chari Division again!

Rising waters from Lake Chad have flooded the Madagascar Neighborhood in the Logone & Chari Division, paralyzing all activities.

Alongside the Babo and the Nenga neighborhoods, the Madagascar community in the Logon & Chari division, Far North Region have been overwhelmed by inundations as a result of the rising waters of the Lake Chad.

The overflow of the lake has caused more than 500 persons in these localities to be rendered homeless. Their homes have been completely submerged by the overflown mass of water.

The neighborhoods have become highly inaccessible as inhabitants say it is difficult getting through them without using canoes.

Some might have even found it a regular job to transport persons through the areas using their canoes.

Educational activities in these affected areas have also been paralyzed as neither students nor tutors find it easy accessing these inundated streets and towns to get to schools. Some of these students are equally scared of entering into canoes as a means of transportation.

Moreover, economic activities in the areas too have equally been paralyzed, bringing about a serious crisis of famine as these people have not been out of their homes for close to a week now.

The sanitary conditions are getting worst by the day and a potential hike in Malaria cases in the region is imminent if nothing is done.
