Following Mass Arrests in Malabo:
Honorable Nourane Foster Urges Diaspora Cameroonians to Respect Laws of their Host Countries

Amidst the massive arrests of Cameroonians amongst other foreigners in Malabo and Bata in Equatorial Guinea, PCRN Member of Parliament Honorable Nourane Foster has urged Cameroonians abroad to restrain themselves.

Hundreds of undocumented and even documented Cameroonian citizens in Equatorial Guinea have been arrested and locked up by the Equatoguinean authorities. Cameroonian residents in Malabo say they have had to lock up their businesses and remain indoors for several days due to the uncertainty.

Honorable Nourane Foster reacted to this on her Facebook page by imploring diplomatic authorities to react promptly. She also asked that Cameroonians living abroad should respect the laws of their host nations and stay out of trouble.

She said, “while hoping our diplomatic missions assist and comfort our compatriots, I will like to invite all Cameroonians in the diaspora to exercise some restraint, responsibility, and to respect the rules of their host countries.”

The Honorable also urged authorities of the host countries to respect the dignities of Cameroonians, as she wrote “We are a proud nation… I will never accept our compatriots to be treated like subhumans.”
