Fon of Nso, Cardinal Tumi still being held by kidnappers

His Royal Highness, Semh Mbinglo I, the Fon of Nso is still being held in Amba captivity.

Reliable sources say the Fon and Cardinal Tumi who were taken by separatist fighters yesterday in Ngoketunjia are still being held by a faction of separatist fighters yet to be identified.

Fon Sehm Mbinglo I who had spent several months out of Kumbo was returning home yesterday when he was captured.

Religious authorities have this morning been mobilising to seek the release of their Cardinal.

Notables of the Nso palace have also frowned on the kidnap attempt, calling for the release of their ruler. It has been described by sons and daughters of Nso as a desecration of the tradition.

“It is disheartening to us as a people and we condemn this with the last energy. As a people we cannot continue to tolerate such humiliation. I call on all Nso people wherever they are to do all in their power to secure the release of our Fon, our Cardinal and the entourage as soon as possible” stated the President of the Nso Development Association, NSODA, Mformi Ndzerem Stephen Ndjozeka.

“I seize this opportunity to call on Nso sons who could be part of the plan to humiliate our people to rethink their ways and to know that ‘no man, however great, can win a war against his people” he added.

The Fon’s decision to return to Kumbo is believed to have been motivated partly by his desire to take part in the December 6th Regional Election, an exercise separatist fighters would want to frustrate at all costs.
