Football: Victoria United President & Players in brawl over match-fixing incident

Many football lovers have been left shocked and baffled over the incident pitting the President of Victoria United Football Club against his own players and team coach.

Prior to a football game which the Limbe based team had to play against Options Sport, the President of Victoria United had allegedly recieved a sum of 1 Million FCFA from Option Sport to let them win the game.

The message was passed down to the team coach, asking him to convey the same message to his players. The instructions to the players was simple. “Play however you want but make sure to lose”.

The players however rebelled against the decision and opted to play the game competitively. The game was played on Sunday, May 23, 2021, with Victoria United emerging 2-0 victors of the game, much to the rage of the president.

The next day as players of the team converged for training at their base, the President of Options Sport came to the scene and seized all their training tools.

Things soon got ugly as some supporters got involved in a physical clash. The Gendarmes soon arrived on the scene, arresting the team manager and coach of Victoria United.

As of now however, the two arrested individuals have not been released yet and the issue hasn’t yet been resolved.
