Former Bangem mayor arrested, indicted for embezzlement

The former mayor of Bangem council, reports say was arrested on Sunday after church service and is said to still be in detention.

The CPDM politician, Ekuh Simon Ojieh is said to have been arrested in relation to missing funds in the council’s coffers, amounting to about 25 million FCFA.

Council workers are also said to have gone for close to six months today without receiving salaries.

Ekuh Simon a source has hinted “claims to be not guilty because he has not handed over yet to the present mayor and that he has not also yet been audited”.
