Jacques Mekok joins the CPDM
The former Vice National Chairman of the Social Democratic Front, SDF Party, Jacques Mekok, has divorced his party in favour of a union with the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM.
He crossed the carpet on Sunday, March 24, during the celebration of the 39th anniversary of the CPDM party.
This happened at Nguelemendouaka in the Upper-Nyong Division of the East Region.
Mekok was being baptised as a CPDM member by the CPDM central committee representative to the area, Yves Didier Djihe Lamadjeha.
According to media reports, Mekok is reported to have said he was happy joining the rolling CPDM party.
However, it should be noted that Mekok did not contest for any position in the last election of the SDF Executive that was held in Yaounde last year.
Mekok was the fourth Vice National Chairman of the SDF.
Before the 2018 presidential election in Cameroon, the SDF, led by the late Ni John Fru Ndi, was termed the principal opposition party in the country.
