A young man of Fulani descent whose identity is yet to be established has been burnt alive in Mogni, a locality in Foumbot, Noun Division of the West Region of Cameroon.
He was caught, beaten and set on fire by the local population — for allegedly breaking into a man’s house to steal a bag of beans.
The young man was found with a knife, dane gun, a bullet and a hand bag.
The incident occured early Thursday March 30, 2023.
“………..thief was caught this morning at 1am breaking to a man’s house with a dane gun to steal a bag of Beans,” a source told MMI.
Eyewitness say he was beaten by the the mob, before being burnt.
“After serious beatings he revealed the names of other two accomplices,” he added saying that, “…..he was then burnt alive with his bike, knife, gun, bullet, identity card, bag and everything that was on him.”
One of the accomplices was nabbed and handed over to the forces of law while the other is still at large.
Local inhabitants say thieves have been wrecking havoc in the community, stealing mostly from internally displaced persons who are struggling to survive.
