Residents of Babessi in the Ngoketunjia division, North West region are still in the bushes as the military has launched an offensive following last week’s attack in Galim in the West region.
Locals say soldiers invaded the village in a bid to retrieve weapons seized in an attack allegedly carried out by Ambazonia fighters from Ngoketunjia.
“After a serious battle between the military and the boys, the military retrieve some and the boy returned killing 3 civilians suspected of helping the military,” a resident tells MMI.
“A prominent businessman called Oscar, another man called Tadios who is an uncle to a gendarme killed in Batibo two months ago and the mother of that gendarme known as Helen. They were all executed this evening at 6pm” the local adds.
Last week after the attack in Galim, a video was circulated in social media with a group claiming to be the Ambazonia restoration force in the Ngoketunjia division.
They displayed weapons, equipment and a motorbike they said had been taken from soldiers in combat.
They also promised to carry out more attacks though denying to indicate where they got the weapons from.
In his youth day speech, President Paul Biya had promised to crush Ambazonia fighters if they failed to drop their arms and get reintegrated into society.
Military raids have since intensified in villages in the conflict-hit regions, leaving more dead and others displaced.
