Four killed, over a dozen arrested, tortured as military storms Badun in Manyu

There was utter chaos today in Badun, a village in Nguti subdivision, Manyu Division of the South West region of Cameroon.

Soldiers stormed the village seeking for separatist fighters commonly called amba boys.

After the raid that lasted a few hours, four persons were killed.

“Four civilians were killed and 15 arrested,” a local tells MMI.

Those arrested, MMI gathers, were immediately taken to the Buea Road Police Station in Kumba where they were detained.

Their relatives and loved ones that rushed to the detention centre upon news of their arrest have since been worried, as they have been denied access to the detainees.

“The detainees are said to have wounds on their bodies resulting from torture by the security forces,” a worried relative to a detainee laments.

Today’s raid, arrest without warrant and alleged torture of the detainees is one of countless incidents that have happened in Anglophone Cameroon for the past four years.

Though government continues to deny that its soldiers have done anything wrong, there are glaring examples of inhumane treatment metted out on the population.
