Fresh Twist in Njirong-Ntumbaw Land Crisis in Donga Mantung

By Soulemanu Buba

The population of Njirong, a village in Ndu Sub Division, Northwest Region of Cameroon have taken their long-standing land grievances with the Ntumbaw people to the administration of the region.

This they say is because the Divisional Officer of Ndu has not shown any reasonable sign that he was interesting in handling the matter.

“The Ndonga Mantung administration has been bribed by the Ntumbaw people to favor them,” an angry mother, one of those at the governor’s offices tell us.

On Wednesday April 27,2022, multitudes of villagers from Njirong stormed the office of the Northwest governor, Adolph Lele Lafrique for their matter to be heard.

At press time, a closed door meeting between the Secretary General at the Northwest governor’s office was having a meeting with the Njirong people while the rest of the population sat on the floor of the esplanade.

The land crisis dates far back as the early 1970s and has recorded enormous loss of lives and properties.

One of such incidents took place this year 2022 where a lot of material damage was recorded.

Many are now waiting to see how the Northwest administration would handle a crisis that the two people have failed to solved for decades now.
