Reverend Mbakwa Alfred, a pastor with the Full Gospel Mission in Bamenda, North West Region of Cameroon, was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen on Wednesday, Sept. 4.
The incident occurred at about 9 p.m. in his residence on Cow Street, Nkwen, Bamenda, sources confirmed to MMI.
“He was shot right in his house. We rushed him to PMI, but he succumbed to his gunshot wounds,” a close source told MMI.
Reverend Mbakwa was also the Board President of Carmel Cooperative Credit Union in Bamenda.
The motive for his killing remains unclear, but sources suggest it was a targeted attack.
No group has claimed responsibility for the act.
Bamenda, plagued by a protracted armed conflict in the English-speaking regions, has seen numerous targeted killings in recent months.
However, authorities often fail to open investigations into these incidents, leaving the killings largely unresolved.
The city continues to grapple with daily violence and the destruction of human life and property, with little accountability for the perpetrators.
