The mayor of Fundong council; Boyo division in the North West region of Cameroon has lamented over the threats on traditional rulers in particular and the general population as a whole.
Addressing the governor of the North West region, Wednesday September 2nd 2020 in Fundong, Mayor Awoh Ndang Denis says some traditional rulers have been captured and detained by separatist fighters.
“This is our main issue here. Fons that are still in their palaces are threatened on daily basis by the boys, reason why you cannot see many of them in this conference .”
To the mayor, “We pray that administrative and security officials should work in close collaboration with traditional rulers to appease the fighters for peace to reign.”
In his key note message at the Boyo Fons Conference, governor Adolf Lele L’Afrique called on the custodians of tradition to be more organised ahead of an eminent election into the house of chiefs.
As concerns security in Boyo division, the governor calls on the collaboration of everyone one in the division to stop insecurity.
Early this week, the military said it killed 17 separatist fighters and arrested six in a six day operation code named “operation Boyo 1”.
