Garoua: Woman allegedly suffocates month-old baby to death in rice bag

A young woman is reported to have suffocated her one-month-old baby to death in a bag of rice in Garoua, North Region of Cameroon.

She reportedly put the baby in a bag of rice and used a pillow to suffocate him to death.

MMI learned the woman attempted to kill her first child, aged two years old, when she was caught by neighbors, who later alerted the police.

“Following her arrest, the young mother pretended to be mentally deranged,” Equinoxe TV reported.

Medical experts have not yet confirmed that her mental state motivated her actions.

Meanwhile, an investigation is underway to shed light on the tragic incident.
