Some youths in Garoua, North Region have made known their intentions to stage a two-hour walk on August 12, 2022.
The youths operating under the banner of the Confédération des Associations des Jeunes Solidaires du Cameroun made this known in a letter to the Divisional Officer for Garoua 2, outlining the planned itinerary.
The youths noted that they will be thanking President Paul Biya for releasing former Minister Basile Atangana Kouna, and asking him to extend the gesture to the others.
“Through this walk, we will first of all, thank the President of the Republic, head of state, supreme chief of the armed forces, father of the nation for his generosity, ceasing judicial procedures against former Minister Basile Atangana Kouna,” they stated.
The second motive of their walk, they added, is to “demand the same act of generosity for Marafa Hamidou Yaya, Amadou Vamoulke, and Iya Mohamed.”
It remains uncertain what the response of the DO for Garoua 2 will be, given the nature with which the state has treated the arrest and detention of the named especially former Minister, Marafa Hamidou Yaya.
