GCE Board Registrar, Akuh Dominic, to be buried this Saturday

Preparations are underway in the South West Region to pay last respects to the Registrar of the Cameroon General Certificate Examination Board, Dang Akuh Dominic, who died last month.

He will be buried this Saturday, October 28, in Limbe, the GCE Board announced in a release.

“The Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Staff of the General Certificate of Education (GCE) Board, hereby announce, with deep sorrow, the sudden death of the Registrar of the GCE Board, Mr Dang Akuh Dominic,” the release reads.

The release signed by the Interim Registrar, Ndi Bernadette, was the Board’s first formal reaction since Mr Dang Akuh’s demise.

The fourth Registrar of the GCE Board died on September 25 at Mount Mary Hospital in Buea. He manned the institution for five years, after inheriting it from Dr Monono Ekema Humphrey in 2018.

Days after Mr his sudden death, the GCE Board’s headquarters in Buea was sealed until an interim Registrar was appointed.

Mrs Ndi Bernadette, formerly the Research and Publication Officer of the GCE Board for the North West, was appointed Tuesday, October 10.

She became the first woman to head the Board since its creation in 1993.

Funeral Program

The GCE Board announced the funeral of the former Registrar, which will take place on Saturday, will proceed as follows:

9:00am: Removal of Corpse from the Mount Mary Hospital

10:00am – 12:30pm: Laying in state at the GCE Board Head Office in Buea

1:00pm: Burial in Limbe (Strictly by Family Members).

Brief Biography

Dominic Akuh Dang, whose parents hail from Befang, Menchum Division of the North West Region, was born in Muyuka, South West Region, in 1959.

He attended primary, secondary, and high school at his place of birth.

Upon completing high school, he enrolled at the then University of Yaounde, where he graduated with a bilingual degree.

He also attended the University of London in the United Kingdom before returning to the country. He had a broad experience in the academia in Cameroon but became more prominent with his appointment as GCE Board Registrar in 2018.
