The population of Epen Bajor in the Kupe-Muanenguba division of Camerooon’s South West region has taken its development into its own hands, following years of government neglect.
With bad roads and poor bridges, locals decided to open a new chapter in her development.
Life had become difficult for the locality due to inaccessibility.
“The people of Epen Bajoh under Kupe-Muanenguba in the southwest region have been going through a lot due to the nature of our roads and poor bridges. We have been facing this for some decades now,” a local told MMI
On Monday, May 19, 2023, the population came out in numbers to rescue a bridge that was abandoned by a contractor after the contract was awarded.
Initially planned for construction, the effort of the local population led to the bridge being given a facelift with wood.
“The contract for the construction of the bridge was abandoned by a certain contractor -Mr. Micheal Nzikang,” he went on adding that, “we are left with no choice but to construct the bridges by ourselves in order to permit vehicles to come to the village.”
