Government Shamelessly Accepts To Build School After Media Exposure

The Minister of Basic Education Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa says a TV report on Equinox drew his attention to the deplorable learning conditions and pathetic infrastructure at government English Primary School Ngwelle in Bonaberi, Douala IV Subdivision.

Authorised but forgotten by the government of Cameroon in terms of infrastructure for over five years , learners of the English school study in an old dilapidated plank structure with leaking roofs, exposed to mosquitoes and related environmental hazards.

Kids can barely study during the rainy season

Pupils of more than one class study in the same classroom separated by nothing, and exposed to several forms of pollution.
Noise learners say, was also a problem to them.

GEPS Ngwelle as it is commonly called has seen its problems multiply this new academic year with the influx of learners from the conflict hit north West and South West regions.
With limited staff, the school which is one of the few English public schools in an Anglophone dominated Douala IV has seen its enrollment almost double, as many learners flee the conflict in the north west and South West regions.

The school gets rare visit from littoral officials after the report

After the report on Equinox television on September 12, 2019 the minister descended to the school, where he recognised the role of the Media.
