Government strikes anti-Biya activist who intervened Macron, insists no genocide in Anglophone regions

Days back, activist Calibri in an impromptu exchange with French president, Emmanuel Macron got the leader promising to call president Paul Biya regarding the killings in the North West and South West regions.

With the video still making rounds on social media, the minister of communication has condemned the action by the activist noted to be the founding father of the Brigade Anti sardinarde, BAS movement.

“By castigating this insane and irresponsible behavior, the Government of the Republic categorically rejects the untruths uttered by this alleged activist” minister Rene Emmanuel Sadi noted, adding that Cameroon and France “maintains long-standing, close and mutually beneficial relations of friendship and cooperation, which have always been based on the sacred principles of State sovereignty and mutual respect.”

These allegations by Calibri he went on were that “the Cameroonian President commits genocide in Cameroon, … in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon, there have already been 12,000 deaths. He also claims that 22 villagers were killed in the North West Region by the Cameroonian army.”

“The Government once again calls on the patriotism, civility and sense of responsibility of Cameroonians … to protect the interests, image and good repute of Cameroon” the minister stated.
To him, Cameroonians in the diaspora should copy from citizens in their countries of residence “who are also plagued by problems, but they never evoke them elsewhere because of their dignity and their national pride.”

With regards to the situation highlighted by Calibri, Minister Emmanuel Sadi said measures had been taken earlier by President Paul Biya “to address the various threats that our country has faced in recent years.”

“In the two regions of the North West and the South West, Cameroonian Defense and Security Forces have all aimed to preserve the territorial integrity of Cameroon, peace and the security of people and property” he went on.
On the Ngarbuh massacre, Emmanuel Sadi said “the Government of the Republic has duly reported the facts relating to this case,” reiterating that 22 villagers (including 14 children) were not killed by the Cameroon defense and security forces.
“Furthermore, and once again, the Government reaffirms that our Defense and Security Forces accomplish the missions assigned to them on all fronts, and in particular in the North-West and South-West Regions, with measure and professionalism, with strict respect for human rights … His Excellency Paul BIYA, whose humanism and humanity are known to all never ordered his army to massacre the civilian population” said Sadi.

“In addition, the Government urges friendly countries and all of Cameroon’s partners not to grant credit to activists, adventurers or madmen manipulated and instrumentalized, eager for notoriety, and whose efforts are aimed only at damage Cameroon’s image, the stability of our institutions, national peace and cohesion” he stated.
Despite government’s refusal,

several international bodies maintain that government soldiers were responsible for the Ngarbuh massacre, with several victims including pregnant women and children.
