Government to repatriate another set of Cameroonians stranded in Dubai

Cameroonians stranded in Dubai and the Northern Emirates now have a chance to return home, MMI has learned.

After many failed to return home during the last repatriation session organised by government, another opportunity has been provided for them to return at their own cost.

In a document listing modalities for their return, Cameroon’s consul general in Dubai “invites compatriots wishing to return to Cameroon at their own cost whether or not registered as part of this initiative to come … File their registration fees until the deadline of July 13 2020”.

For those that fail to comply, ” they will be asked to wait for the borders to reopen in that case” the statement revealed.

While assuring the Cameroonian community in Dubai of his availability, the diplomat charged them to remain good citizens.

He has invited ” those concerned to show responsibility and good citizenship and not to yield to baseless information from ill-intentioned individuals”.

” They will be informed through the Consulate General after 13 July 2020 on the progress of the operation “, the statement said.

Many Cameroonians in Dubai had criticised earlier repatriation efforts after failing to make it, with some accusing officials of using it as a means to enrich themselves.
