The North West/South West Women Task Force
has expressed indignation over the absence of a true women representation at the ongoing national dialogue.
In an outing on their official Facebook page, the group wrote “The South West and North West Women Task Force notes with dismay the absence of a true representation of the voices of grassroots women and youths who involved in the crisis”.
On the first day of the dialogue, the group said they identified several shortcomings including the absence of significant number of grassroots women as participants as well as the absence of divergent voices of young people who are fighters.
They also said they observed “The minimal presence of women on commission boards either as chairpersons, co-chairs or rapporteurs, The absence of significant numbers of Anglophones as members of the Decentralization and Local Development Commission Board, a key sector with capacity to address the root causes of the Anglophone Crisis”.
As a women led coalition, the Task Force they said is worried about the transparency of proceedings and the eventual outcome if all voices are not adequately entertained.
