Gunmen Attack Galim Gendarmerie, Police Posts, Kill Five In Bloody Shootout

As of now, a total of five persons are confirmed to have been killed during the armed attack in Galim, 15 km away from Mbouda, chief town of the Bamboutos Division of the West region of Cameroon.

Security sources say about 20 heavily armed men on board motorcycles attacked Galim in the evening of Saturday, March 7, 2020, taking on the Galim Gendarmerie and Police station simultaneously.

After hours of gun battle, the armed men killed two gendarmerie officers, two police officers and a civilian struck by stray bullets.

The same source says several gendarmerie and police officials got wounded in the attack and have been rushed to the hospital in Mbouda.

The unidentified armed men made away with several weapons, including 3 Ak 47 guns, heading towards Bafanji, according to security sources.

CNA reports that 6 boxes of ammunition were taken from the gendarmerie and 2 weapons: 1 FAL and 1 PM with ammunition taken from the police station.

The deceased victims listed by CNA are two female gendarmes: Nougue Maeva and Boumla Emelda and two Policemen: IPP Nsangou and GPP Djeugap Christian plus a prisoner, Supuyo Salifou.

The wounded, CNA reports are: Etoundi, Tanyi Atem, ACM Tarkoua Thomas and Tchio who are yet to be seen.

Government is yet to react officially to the incident.
