Has Dr Christopher Fomunyoh snubbed appointment into dialogue commission?

From every indication, one of the commission heads of the ongoing national dialogue is no where closer to Yaounde where the peace talks are taking place.

He was seemingly appointed in absentia Monday by Prime Minister Dion Ngute to head the reconstruction commission.

Though the commissions have begun meeting, Dr Christopher Fomunyoh who is also senior Associate for Africa and Regional Director at the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs is nowhere to be found in Yaounde, venue of the high-level meeting.

MMI was unable to confirm if Dr Fomunyoh actually snubbed the invitation to chair one of the commissions.
However, in a post on Facebook today October 1st, 2019 , Dr Fomunyoh wrote “Received this morning by H.E President Issoufou Mahamadou of Niger. We discussed amongst other things, the upcoming International Conference on Constitutionlism and the Consolidation of Democracy in Africa”.

“It is humbling to know President Mahamadou will be presiding over the conference opening ceremony tomorrow 2nd of October 2019, in Niamey” he added.

The State media has however announced, the Senior Associate for Africa and Regional Director at the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs was replaced by Dr. Simon Munzo.

Dr Fomunyoh meeting Niger’s President

Fomunyoh holds a License en Droit from the University of Yaoundé, 1979; an LL.M. in International Law from Harvard Law School, 1989; and a Ph.D. in political science from Boston University, 1993.

He also holds a professional certificate in Air Law from the Université Paul Cézanne Aix-Marseille III. Dr. Fomunyoh is an adjunct faculty at the African Center for Strategic Studies, and a former adjunct professor of African Politics & Government at Georgetown University.

He is perfectly articulate in both French and English.
