The accumulation of household waste on the streets of Bamenda has grown geometrically with many health officials warning that the situation could provoke a health epidemic soon.
The waste management company, HYSACAM has been unable, to collect waste in the city following the kidnap and harassment of their workers.
Some of their trucks have also been razed by suspected separatist fighters.
The people of Bamenda have called on the city council to help salvage the situation.
Rotten vegetables, plantain peelings, used diapers, old clothes, and other thrash are pilled up in almost every road junction and major street in Bamenda.
Denizens struggle their way through the dirt that has even infested the roads. In most quarters, the roads have been blocked by dirt.
The dirt at Ntamulung, Ntambessi roundabout, and Nkwen park has even blocked the road making it difficult for bikes and vehicles to pass at once.
