Health: Three women aged 50+ give birth at CHRACERH Yaounde

The Hospital Center for Research and Application in Endoscopic Surgery and Human Reproduction, CHRACERH in Yaoundé has witnessed three recent deliveries from women above the age of 50.

The three children, two girls and a boy, were a result of an In Vitro Fertilization process, and were born through a cesarean section.

An In Vitro Fertilization process is a complex series of procedures applied to enable fertility in women or prevent genetic problems and to assist with the conception of a child.

One of the three mothers, called Marie Monique Mbozo’o, was at her sixth delivery through In Vitro Fertilization, with the previous five not being successful.

The Research, Endoscopic Surgery and Human Reproductive Hospital Center, CHRACERH Yaoundé was launched by Cameroon’s First Lady, Chantal Biya in 2015 as a solution to infertility amongst women and to solve the problem of childlessness in homes.

From its creation in 2015, CHRACERH has already overseen the deliveries of close to 300 babies, and have set a target at 500 deliveries over the next two years.
