Jean Pierre Amougou Belinga and DGRE boss Maxime Eko Eko have renovated their cell at the Yaounde Central Prison (Kondengui Prison) into a comfortable living room to match their calibre of persons, a source in prison told MMI.
The two were among several suspects charged by the Yaounde Military Court on Friday for participating in the murder of journalist Martinez Zogo.
MMI learned upon arriving the Kondengui prison about 6am on Friday, they were not pleased with the shabby-looking nature of their cell, which happens to be the former chapel of the prison.
Using their wealth and influence, they immediately undertook to renovate the room by scrapping off its archaic interior design.
Reports say: “they brought in cement, tiles and ceiling boards to give the room a look that befits their personalities.”
Amougou Belinga and Eko Eko have already spent their second night at Kondengui, which has now become their permanent home for an indefinite time.
They were charged for complicity in the abduction and murder of Martinez Zogo, after spending one month in preliminary detention at the State Secretariat of Defence for the Gendarmerie.
At Kondengui, they are in the company of other high profile detainees including former defence Minister Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo’o and Sisiku Ayuk Tabe, self declared president of the Republic of Ambazonia.
