Hospitals have not received government permission to use my COVID-19 treatment, Archbishop Kleda

Cameroon has recorded close to 10,000 COVID-19 cases. As the virus spreads, different countries are turning to any remedies they can in addition to measures laid down by the World Health Organisation.

In Cameroon, the story is different. Despite asserting that he has treated over 3000 patients, Douala Archbishop, Samuel Kleda says hospitals won’t use his treatment.

“I regret one thing, because some doctors, especially in public hospitals, refuse that treatment be applied to their patients” the clergyman says.

Acknowledging that they are right to do so, Kleda says the onus lies on government to make the decision “… that is why i turn to the government, to our authorities for this problem to be resolved”.

“For public hospitals, you have to be clear, the products are not deposited there. When i think about it, i tell myself that they have not received authorisation from their hierarchy to apply these products, ”he added.

Even after meeting a team from the ministry of public health and being received by the Prime Minister of Cameroon, Archbishop Kleda’s cure has not been officially recognised by the state.

With school resumption last week, the number of COVID-19 cases has witnessed a sharp rise, causing fears of more deaths.
