Husband Strangles Wife Over 30,000 FCFA in Viral Video

A disturbing video shows 29-year-old Henry Molinge violently assaulting his wife, 27-year-old Ashley Molinge, in Bokwaongo, Buea. This incident has sparked outrage on social media, with netizens calling for swift justice for the victim.

On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, a shocking incident occurred. Reliable sources indicate that the altercation arose when Ashley allegedly used 30,000 FCFA found in her husband’s trousers to prepare food for the household. When Henry discovered the money missing and Ashley could not provide it, he allegedly resorted to physical violence, strangling her until she collapsed.

“She prepared food for the house with the money.” Henry discovered it and demanded it back. “He started beating her until she collapsed when she couldn’t provide the money,” recounted Sandrine, a neighbour who witnessed the aftermath.

Neighbours report that this is not the first instance of abuse in the Molinge household. Many heard Ashley’s cries frequently, while family and neighbours failed to intervene.

She often cries after Henry beats her. Ivo, another neighbour, said, “We’ve tried to mediate several times, but he never stops.”

Multiple Unfounded Accusations

In another video linked to the incident, Henry hurls insults at a man believed to be his cousin, accusing him of having an affair with Ashley. The cousin intervened to rescue Ashley and transported her to a safe location for medical attention.

People on social media are demanding Henry’s immediate arrest.

He must not spend another second walking free. “This is domestic violence, and he should be in jail,” stated Facebook user Sally Eko.

Activists fighting against gender-based violence (GBV) in Buea face scrutiny, as many call for them to act swiftly.

Where are the GBV activists in Buea? Nicoline Bih expressed her outrage on Facebook, stating, “This is a clear case of gender-based violence, and justice must be served.”

Henry and Ashley married in 2021 and welcomed their young daughter, Safia Stella Molinge. This incident sparked a public outcry that highlights the increasing demand for accountability and immediate action to tackle domestic violence in Cameroon.

Many hope that justice will serve Ashley, providing her with the protection and support she desperately needs.
